The room was used in medieval times as the "free prison" with the Court of Record being established in the mid. 18th century. It is a very fine example of an early Georgian Courtroom with the Judge's seat being set in the centre of a gentle curve of benches and adorned with Corinthian Columns. The arms of George II are displayed above.
